With the Cole & Mason mechanism, the peppercorns are cut rather than ground to release more flavour. The salt mill, meanwhile, is fitted with a ceramic mechanism to ensure it is corrosion-resistant. Refilling is quick and easy: simply unscrew the cap at the base of the mill, which has a wide opening.
