REMINDER:
According to article R4227-34 of the French Labour Code the installation of an audible alarm system is compulsory for :
- Establishments where more than 50 people are usually present or occupied,
- Establishments where flammable materials are handled and used.
This audible signal must be audible at all points in the building. The audible signal is standardised in France so that everyone can recognise that it is a fire alarm: it includes the AFNOR NFS32001 standard.
Type 4 alarms are compulsory in establishments open to the public in the following locations:
- Dance or games rooms for 1 to 20 people
- Libraries for 1 to 100 people
- Shopping centres, educational establishments, exhibition halls, government offices or banks, underground or overhead stations with a capacity of 1 to 300 people
- Restaurants, theatres, indoor sports facilities and establishments for workers with a capacity of 1 to 700 people
- Places of worship and museums with a capacity of between 1 and 1,500 people.
