REMINDER:

According to article R4227-34 of the French Labour Code setting up a audible alarm system is considered mandatory in the following cases:

- Establishments in which the following persons may be ordinarily employed or assembled more than 50 people,

- Establishments that handle and use flammable materials.

The sound signal must be audible from any point in the buildingthis audible signal is standardised in France so that everyone can identify that it is a fire alarm: it carries the standard AFNOR NFS32001.

With regard to establishments open to the public, type 4 alarms are mandatory for the following locations :

- Dance or games rooms that can accommodate 1 to 20 people

- The libraries that can accommodate 1 to 100 people

- Shopping centres, educational establishments, exhibition halls, government offices or banks, underground or overhead railway stations, etc that can accommodate 1 to 300 people

- Restaurants, theatres, indoor sports facilities and establishments receiving workers that can accommodate 1 to 700 people

- Religious establishments and museums that can accommodate 1 to 1500 people.
