REMINDER:
According to article R4227-34 of the Labor Code the installation of an audible alarm system is mandatory for :
- Establishments where more than 50 people are usually present or occupied,
- Establishments where flammable materials are handled and used.
The audible signal must be audible at all points in the building. The audible signal is standardized in France to ensure that everyone recognizes it as a fire alarm: it carries the AFNOR NFS32001 standard.
For establishments open to the public, type 4 alarms are mandatory for the following locations:
- Dance or games rooms for 1 to 20 people
- Libraries accommodating 1 to 100 people
- Shopping malls, educational establishments, showrooms, government offices or banks, underground or overhead stations accommodating 1 to 300 people
- Restaurants, auditoriums, indoor sports facilities and establishments for workers with a capacity of 1 to 700 people
- Religious establishments and museums accommodating 1 to 1,500 people.
