The Sa type B.A.A.L. includes a battery for operation in the event of a "power" failure. Opening the control loop triggers an alarm process lasting a minimum of 5 minutes.

The flash emits a light signal to alert deaf and hard-of-hearing people to the presence of a fire hazard, and reinforces the perception of the emergency evacuation signal in noisy premises.
