What is the role of a manual release?

A manual release plays a crucial role in building fire safety, enabling anyone who detects a fire to manually trigger the fire alarm, quickly alerting all occupants to the imminent danger. Manual releases are often installed in strategic, easily accessible areas to ensure rapid reaction in the event of a fire: near exits, in corridors, near staircases, at main entrances, in gathering areas such as lobbies or cafeterias, for example.

Where to install a fire manual release?

To ensure maximum efficiency, it's essential to install manual fire alarms in strategic locations, close to exits and in high-traffic areas such as corridors and stairwells in general. As for installation height, standards recommend placing them at around 1.4 meters from the floor. This height is optimal for easy access by the majority of occupants, including people with reduced mobility. What's more, manual fire alarms must be clearly marked and visible so they can be spotted quickly in stressful situations.
