Evacuation lighting is compulsory in public buildings, particularly for rooms and premises:

• for at least 50 people;
• with a minimum surface area of 300 m² on the upper and ground floors or 100 m² in the basement. 

In ERT, the BAES is compulsory in all premises, except for :

• premises with a maximum capacity of 20 people 
• premises on one level where there is less than 30 m to walk to reach an exit.
