As part of the Plan Particulier de Mise en Sureté (PPMS) for major hazards, establishments are required to " set up an internal major-accident warning system [...] different from the fire warning signal ". The containment alarm emits a clearly identifiable warning signal, enabling the PPMS to be triggered immediately, and the instructions to assemble in the designated safety areas to be applied by all.
